Center for Values Conference

A big thank you to all the donors who have supported our efforts so far!!! We have met our first goal of $1,000 because of you all, and now we would love to meet our overall fundraising goal of $1,500 by March 2.

The Center for Values and the associated Values in Medicine, Science, and Technology (VMST)  invites you to support its Annual Values in Medicine, Science, and Technology Conference that will be held at UT Dallas May 28-31, 2020.  One of the goals of the conference is to continue to create collaborations among graduate students and early-career scholars from around the world for the exchange of best practices, research projects, and values. In order to fulfill this goal, we need YOUR help to raise a total of $2,500, and the first phase of our crowdfunding efforts starts with a $1,000 goal.    

The impact of the conference on our community include:  

1.  The growth of collaborative network of early-career scholars;
2.  Growing credibility and visibility of the Center for Values at UTD;
3.  Enhancement of the quality and quantity of presentations at the annual conference by supporting presenters who might not otherwise be able to attend.

Please help us spread the word by sharing this page on your social media accounts. With your generous support we will be able to provide students and scholars, who would otherwise  could not afford to attend, with a conference stipend.

Former VMST Conference participants share:

As a former recipient of financial aid to attend the 9th annual VMST Conference, I can testify that, without this support, I would not have been able to attend the conference. My PhD program offers limited travel funding, and on a meager stipend; this has a marked influence on my ability to share my work with others in my field, and learn from peers and mentors. The funding offers students with more limited means closer to an equal opportunity to receive an important part of academic training. I therefore strongly encourage anyone who can, to donate to this travel fund for graduate students and early career scholars.

Because of the financial support from, the Center for Values in Medicine, Science, and Technology I was able to attend the 9th Annual VMST conference. I learned a lot during the conference and received a lot of useful feedback. The topic of values in science is not popular in Europe, where I'm based, therefore the participation in the conference was a unique opportunity for me. It helped me to improve both the paper I presented and my Ph.D. thesis.
